A ready-made marketing plan template on one page

Nine boxes are enough to turn scattered ideas into a plan the whole team understands: from the business goal and the customer to channels, budget, and measurement indicators. Download the template as a PDF for printing, or as an Excel file to edit and share.

The idea

What is a one-page marketing plan?

It is a short plan that answers the questions that govern all of marketing in the space of one page: what do we want, who are we addressing, what do we offer them, where do we reach them, and how do we know the plan is working. The idea became well known through the book The 1-Page Marketing Plan by Allan Dib, and the M Zee template is built on how we work with companies: fewer theoretical boxes and a greater focus on measurement and review.

The value of one page is that it forces you to choose. If a box cannot hold your answer, you have probably not made the decision yet. It does not replace a detailed plan, but it is the reference every campaign or content plan goes back to.

The nine boxes

The nine boxes in order

The order is deliberate: each box depends on the one before it. Do not start with channels before you settle the customer and the offer.

01

The business goal

One measurable result within a defined period, such as the number of new customers or sales. The common mistake: writing a marketing goal such as “increase awareness” instead of a business result.

02

The target customer

One priority segment: who they are, their situation, and when they need you. The common mistake: “everyone” or a demographic description with no clear problem.

03

The problem and the offer

The problem the customer pays to solve, and your specific offer for it. The common mistake: listing the company’s features instead of a result the customer gets.

04

The message

One sentence that explains why this customer chooses you now. The common mistake: a generic slogan that would suit any competitor.

05

Channels

Two or three channels where the customer actually is, with the role of each. The common mistake: being present on every platform with scattered effort.

06

The conversion path

The steps from first awareness to purchase or booking: an ad, then a page, then WhatsApp or a cart. The common mistake: a good ad that leads to a page that does not answer the customer’s questions.

07

Budget

The amount for the period and how it is split between testing and scaling. The common mistake: a number unrelated to customer cost and profit margin. See how to set a marketing budget.

08

Measurement indicators

One main indicator tied to the goal, two supporting indicators, and the source of each. The common mistake: settling for views and clicks. See measuring the return on marketing.

09

Review rhythm

When the plan is reviewed, who attends, and what decisions are expected. The common mistake: a plan written once that no one returns to.

A hypothetical example

A filled-in example: a service company

This is a hypothetical example of an accounting consultancy serving small businesses, not real client data. The figures in it are for illustration only. For a deeper plan for this type of business, see a marketing plan for a service company.

01

The business goal

10 new contracts for the monthly accounting service next quarter.

02

The target customer

A small business owner who manages the books personally and fears filing errors.

03

The problem and the offer

Lost time and fear of penalties; the offer: monthly accounting at a fixed price with a free first review.

04

The message

“Focus on your work, and we follow your accounts and filings every month.”

05

Channels

Google search campaigns for urgent need, LinkedIn for awareness, and WhatsApp for follow-up.

06

The conversion path

An ad, then the service page, then the free review request, then a call, then a price quote.

07

Budget

70% to search and 30% to LinkedIn in the first month, then reallocation according to cost per contract.

08

Measurement indicators

Main: cost per new contract. Supporting: review requests and the share that convert to contracts.

09

Review rhythm

A short weekly review of the numbers, and a monthly decision session with the company owner.

Both files are free and need no sign-up or email. The PDF version is suited to printing and handwriting in a workshop with the team, and the Excel version contains the same boxes with a column for the owner and the review date, and a second sheet with the filled-in example above. You can upload the Excel file to Google Sheets if your team works there.

From one page to execution

How to turn the page into a 90-day plan

The one page sets the direction, and the 90-day plan sets what will happen each week. Divide the quarter into three phases: two weeks for preparation and diagnosis, then four weeks to test two or three messages on the chosen channels, then the rest of the quarter to scale what proved the lowest customer cost and stop what did not work. At the end of the quarter, return to the page and adjust the boxes that the results changed. Details are in quarterly marketing planning.

By project type

Versions by project type

The same boxes suit every business, but how you fill them in differs. These are deeper guides for each case.

01

Startup

The first goal is testing the market and the offer before scaling spend.

02

Service company

A path from inquiry to quote and contract, where a fast reply is part of the plan.

03

Online store

Linking ads to sales and the cost per order after shipping and discounts.

Custom plan

When do you need a custom plan?

The template is enough if you have a clear product, one market, and a team that knows what it wants to test. But if you have several markets or segments, if growth stalled despite spend, or if the team disagrees on priorities, you may need a deeper diagnosis within the marketing and growth strategy service.

FAQ

About the marketing plan template

Is the template free?

Yes. Both files are free and can be downloaded directly with no sign-up or email.

Can I edit the template and use it for my company?

Yes. The Excel version is fully editable, and you can add rows or columns as your team needs.

How long does it take to fill in the template?

It depends on how clear your decisions are. If the decisions on goal, customer, and offer are settled, one session with the team is usually enough. If you get stuck on a box, that is a sign of a decision that needs discussion before spending.

Filled it in and want a second opinion?

Send us a picture of your plan or the box where you stopped, and we will tell you whether a simple adjustment is enough or the plan needs a deeper diagnosis. You can also message us from the contact page.
